Get dedicated help with your studies
Support available to UAL Online students
We have in place a range of teams that are dedicated to supporting you in your studies.
Our support is designed to be:
- tailored to your needs
- adapted to your unique context and circumstances
- and is designed to give you the best possible foundation to ensure your success at UAL.
As a UAL Online student, your first line of support will be provided by a dedicated Student Success Team. We would guide you to contact this team first if you have any questions about your studies. No question is too great or too small!
Our Student Success Team is available to offer you pastoral support to complement the academic guidance provided by your Course Team. They'll provide information, advice and direction in relation to the policies, processes and procedures that will ensure your success in your studies. They'll help you to navigate your learning journey.
Based on your needs, they can also put you in touch with a range of additional Specialist Support Teams across the university: from Disability Services to Library Services, from your Fees Management Team to a Funding Team, and from Mental Health Support to Counselling Support – just to name a few.
Finally, you’ll have a dedicated tutor for each unit on your course. They’ll support you in your journey by guiding discussions, providing constructive feedback on learning activities, facilitating engaging live sessions and answering all queries related to academic content. They’ll help you to understand core concepts, develop critical thinking skills, to take your practice to the next level and ultimately succeed in your studies.
How to contact your Student Success Team
As soon as you complete enrolment for your course, your Recruitment Advisor will put you in touch with our dedicated UAL Online Student Success Team.
The Student Success Team will reach out by email and phone to schedule a Welcome Call, where you'll:
- receive key onboarding information
- learn about the role of the Student Success Team
- discuss your proposed study plan
- agree on a contact plan from enrolment to graduation
- get tips to help you prepare for your studies.
Your advisor will proactively reach out to you during critical points in your studies to make sure you have everything you need to succeed. We will send important reminders at key milestones, for instance, around assessment and payment deadlines.
Equally, you can reach out to us, by email or phone, with any questions, comments or concerns as you go along.
We’re available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm UK time. You can also book appointments with your advisor at any point in your journey by using our scheduling tool.
We’ll send you full contact details for the Student Success Team when you enrol.
How to contact your Academic Team
A dedicated tutor will be available from the first day of teaching for each of your units. Their contact information will be accessible to you on the homepage of your unit in the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
If it isn’t clear who you should contact, reach out to the Student Success Team.
How to access specialist support services
We have made every effort to ensure that the vast majority of services are available to all our online students. However, it’s important to note that there will necessarily be some differences based on your country of residence. For instance, the Disability Services Allowance is a UK Government initiative that is only available to students living in the UK.
If it isn’t clear which services are available to you, who you should contact or if you just want to talk through any of our services, reach out to the Student Success Team who will be happy to provide further information.
