Interior Styling Short Course

Course description

This course looks at the role of an interior stylist and provides an introductory insight into the styling industry. Stylists can fulfil a multitude of roles such as creating photo shoots for editorial and advertising, visual merchandising for stores and exhibitions, residential interior styling, show home or commercial. The course looks at how a stylist maximises the impact of a project and makes it look stylish by dressing interiors with pattern, colour, furnishings, texture, composition and arrangement. Throughout the course there are lectures to provide insights, theory, and handy tips to broaden your styling skills. You will be challenged in terms of what you can bring to interior styling, explore how to market yourself, and develop a signature style. There is a photoshoot to show how photography aids marketing, and how styling through a camera is a different approach to styling a real interior. Projects are set to give you a taster of the industry and start you on the process of making professional presentations. We look at trend forecasting and how we can anticipate new directions in interiors. Sustainability and how designers can make new choices and apply vision to reusing materials.
