Study Abroad funding and awards

Study Abroad offers different awards based on the course you will be undertaking:

  • 4 Integrated Awards (2 for Autumn term and 2 for Spring term) given to two students per term studying on one of our Integrated courses.
  • 6 Semester Awards (3 for Autumn term and 3 for Spring term) given to one Central Saint Martins student, one London College of Communication student and one London College of Fashion student per term studying on one of our UAL Study Abroad Semester courses.
  • 2 Summer Awards given to two students on a 3-week summer course.

In exchange the awarded students will:

  • create video content on their Study Abroad experience for our social media channels.
  • answer questions for an interview at the end of their course that will be featured in our stories.
  • help us provide fun and engaging content.

UAL Integrated Study Abroad Awards

2 awards of £1,500 each

2 Study Abroad awards are available per term to students on Integrated programmes.

We are looking for students who will create social media content and blogs of their time with us as a Study Abroad Student. In exchange, you will receive one award of £1,500.

How to apply

Create a video that would be suitable for social media (no longer than 90 seconds) showcasing what excites you about studying at University of the Arts London. Be as creative as possible! Imagine it being presented on our Instagram Account.

In addition to this you will also provide a 200 word supporting statement in pdf or word document format answering the brief: Why I want to Study Abroad at UAL and what I hope to achieve?

Please email your entry to studyabroadoffice@arts.ac.uk with your full name and the course title in the subject line.

Deadlines

15 May for the Autumn term.

31 October for the Spring term.

You should hear back on the outcome of your application within 14 working days after the deadline.

Eligibility to apply

You must have been accepted onto an Integrated Study Abroad programme at UAL and be enrolled on an undergraduate degree programme outside the UK.

The award depends on you successfully enrolling for the course. Our cancellation policy still applies.

UAL Study Abroad Semester Awards

3 full tuition awards

UAL Study Abroad awards are available for the UAL Study Abroad Semester.

There are 3 full tuition awards available per term.

  • 1 for Central Saint Martins
  • 1 for London College of Communication
  • 1 for London College of Fashion

We are looking for students who will be able to create social media content and blogs of their time with us as a Study Abroad Student.

Summer Study Abroad Award

2 full tuition-fee waivers

We offer two Summer Study Abroad Award: two tuition fee waivers for our 3-week courses.

To apply for the Summer Study Abroad Award, you must hold an offer for one of our 3-week Summer Study Abroad courses.

To be eligible, you must be 18 years or older, hold an offer to join 1 of our 3 week Summer Study Abroad courses.

The award covers the tuition-fee only and depends on you successfully enrolling for the course. Our cancellation policy still applies.

You are not Eligible if you are joining one of our 8-week courses.

UAL Sanctuary Programme

UAL Study Abroad supports the UAL Sanctuary programme. If you are a student seeking sanctuary around the world and would like to access our Study Abroad programme, please get in touch via studyabroad@arts.ac.uk.

US financial aid and funding

All 6 Colleges of University of the Arts London are Title IV Registered. Eligible students who enrol on a semester programme here can continue to take out financial aid via their home institution.

Study Abroad students are not eligible to receive US Federal or private loans through our institution.

Should you wish to take out a US loan, please contact the Financial Aid Office at your home institution. University of the Arts London is able to enter into a consortium agreement and this should be arranged via your home institution.

Alternative scholarships and funding

There are a number of other scholarships available to assist you with studying abroad. Go Overseas provides a variety of options for study abroad students.

The Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship Program is for US undergraduate students of limited financial means.

BUTEX (British Universities Transatlantic Exchange Association) offers a scholarship for students holding an offer for an Integrated or Semester Study Abroad programme at UAL. The value of each scholarship is £500.

UAL offers two tuition-fee waivers for 3-week Summer Study Abroad places to ITAA members, allowing them to broaden their creative perspective and bring new knowledge directly back to their students and institutions.
