Applied and awaiting outcome
If you've applied to the scheme but have not yet received the outcome, you must provide:
- your Certificate of Application (CoA) to UAL
- your Home Office letter confirming successful application to the EU Settlement Scheme.

Dependant visa
Many different visa types allow visa holders to bring dependants to the UK. You may be a dependant of your spouse/partner, fiancé, fiancée or proposed civil partner, child, parent or a relative who will provide long-term care for you.
If your visa shows you’re dependent upon a person, you must provide the following documents in addition to your passport and visa:
- Proof of the visa of the person you are dependent upon. This can be either:
- a copy of their visa application which shows you as a dependent
- or a PDF with their share code and confirmation of their date of birth.
- Proof the person you are dependent upon is exercising their right of residence in the UK.
- This can be a recent letter from their employer or education institute, a tenancy agreement or evidence of self-employment.
- The letter must be less than 2 months old at the time of enrolment.
Please provide good quality photos or electronic copies.
Upload these documents to the ‘my Online Registration’ section of your UAL Portal.
Sponsored visa including Skilled Worker
If your visa shows you’re sponsored by another organisation, you must provide a letter from your visa sponsor in addition to your passport and visa. The letter must be less than 2 months old and must confirm that:
- the visa sponsorship will be maintained while you are studying
- your visa sponsor is aware of your study plans and gives permission for you to attend all study-related activity
- your intended course does not interfere with the activity for which the visa was originally issued.
Please provide good quality photos or electronic copies.
Upload these documents to the ‘my Online Registration’ section of your UAL Portal.
Non-dependant visa
If your visa is not dependent upon another person and is not being sponsored, you must upload copies of:
- your passport photo ID page
- a PDF of your share code so we can verify your eVisa status.
Upload good quality photos or electronic copies to the ‘my Online Registration’ section of your UAL Portal.
Exemptions
Students exempt from immigration control are required to demonstrate their exemption. Please ensure you apply for an exempt vignette. Provide this at enrolment, alongside your passport.
If you are exempt as a family member of an exempt person, you must provide the following documents in addition to your passport and exempt vignette:
- Proof of the exemption of the person who is your family member. This can be a copy of their entry vignette (sticker in passport), or a copy of their visa application which shows you as a dependent.
- Proof the person who is your family member is exercising their right of residence in the UK. This can be a recent letter from their employer or education institute, a tenancy agreement or evidence of self-employment. Please ensure that the letter is no more than 2 months old at the time of enrolment.
You’ll need to upload these documents to the ‘my Online Registration’ section of your UAL Portal.

Returning after a break
If you plan to return to your studies after taking some agreed Time Out and and you previously held a Student Route visa, you’ll be invited to apply for a new CAS by the Immigration Compliance Team. Check ‘CAS for continuing and returning students’ for more information on the process and what to expect.
You may be returning to study to repeat a course unit. In this case, you must have the correct immigration status and visa. You may need to make an application for a Student Route visa, or a Standard Visitor visa. If you require any assistance or advice, please contact the Student Advice Service.
