When to enrol
When it's time for you to enrol, we'll send an email with instructions on what to do next.
Enrolment for new students opens on Monday 18 August 2025, but not everyone gets invited to enrol straight away. We send invitations out in batches, so check your inbox regularly.
Eligibility
You're eligible to enrol when you've:
- met all the conditions of your study offer
- accepted your place.
If you're an international student you'll also need to have:
- paid a deposit towards your tuition fees
- received a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number from us.
Before you enrol
You must set-up your UAL email and network account before you can enrol.
We'll send you an email asking you to set up and start using your UAL email and network account when:
- you've accepted your offer to study with us
- and it's less than 10 weeks before the start date of your course.
If you have problems logging in to your UAL email and network account, contact IT Services for help.

How to enrol
Step 1: Online registration
This is where you provide the information we need to enrol you.
- Log in to your UAL Portal
- Complete each step and upload your documents.
- When you're ready, submit your online registration.
Even if you don't have all of your information yet, log in and start online registration as soon as you can.
- When uploading documents and images, make sure you add your Student ID number at the start of the file name.
You'll need to prepare:
1. a copy of your passport
- Upload a copy of the photo page of your passport.
- Or if you are a UK citizen without a passport, your birth certificate.
2. copies of your academic qualifications
If you haven't already, you'll need to upload:
- your exam certificates or transcripts
- if any of your transcripts are not in English you must upload a translation as well.
If English is not your first language:
- an English language certificate, or evidence you meet an exemption against the English language requirements.
You can view the certificates you've already uploaded. If a certificate is already uploaded and verified you don't need to add it again.
3. copies of your visa and immigration documentation
Check what documents you'll need to provide in enrolment for visaholders. It's usually evidence of:
- your visa or immigration status
- when you arrived in the UK.
Upload your passport and visa or immigration status documents as soon as possible, so that you can submit your online registration.
Only after you arrive in the UK, upload your ticket, boarding pass or stamped vignette. You must upload these to complete your enrolment.
4. to pay your tuition fees or confirm your funding arrangements
You'll need to either:

Upload a photo for your student ID card.
- Show your head and shoulders against a plain background.
- Use portrait orientation.
- Don't include other objects or people.
- Don't use filters or other software to edit the image.
- Upload JPEG, JPG or PNG format only.
- Maximum file size 5MB.
Step 2: Enrolment confirmation
Once you've submitted your online registration, we'll check your information to make sure we have everything we need to complete your enrolment.
- We aim to make all of our checks within 5 working days, but it may take a little longer during busier times.
- Please be patient. We'll contact you as soon as we can.
Enrolment confirmation
If we're able to complete your enrolment, we'll send you an email confirmation.
Enrolment on hold
If anything is missing from your online registration, or something is incorrect - your enrolment will be paused. We'll email you detailing what you must do next. Please check your inbox regularly.
When you can start your course
You must complete and submit your online registration to start your course.
We'll contact you with details about when you can collect your Student ID card and start your course on-site.
You must still provide any missing documentation or make any corrections to finalise your enrolment by the enrolment deadline. For visaholders, this includes copies of tickets, boarding passes or stamped vignettes (passport stickers).

- We'll email you instructions about what you must do next.
You must be 'fully enrolled' or 'conditionally enrolled' in your UAL Portal by the enrolment deadline.
Enrolment deadlines
Submit your online registration as early as possible. Any delay could mean we are unable to confirm your enrolment before the enrolment deadline.
The deadlines to enrol are:
Pre Degree and Further Education
2 weeks after your course start date. This includes courses:
- at level 3, such as UAL Foundation Diploma
- at level 4, such as the Certificate in Higher Education.
Undergraduate and Postgraduate
3 weeks after your course start date. This includes courses such as:
- BA, BSc, UAL Diploma
- Graduate Diploma
- MA, MRes, MSc
- MPhil, PhD.
Your course start date is when teaching begins for your course. Welcome week is not included.
It's important you arrive for the start of teaching for your course. Attendance is a key contributor to successful studies and we'd like to ensure you get the most out of your time at UAL.
