
Architectural Drawing Short Course
Course description
Are you planning to study spatial and architectural designs whilst refreshing your drawing techniques? This course will help you to build your confidence and your ability to visualise and draw space by applying sketching techniques to an individually developed project. The project will take you through the entire architectural design process, from concept design to final presentation, including techniques such as architectural sketching, technical drawing, and material experimentation.
Clear, easy to understand lessons:
- Our tutors will explain things in easy to understand, accessible English. If they need to use any special terminology they will make sure they explain what they mean.
- New methods will be shown to students through live demonstrations, in a way thats crystal clear and easy to understand.

Topics covered:
- site observational sketching skills
- the conventions of technical scaled architectural drawings
- the basics of perspective and axonometric drawings
- the use of fundamental freehand drawings during design development
- the use of materiality to inform the design process in different scales
- the use of concept models and working models as important part of the design development process
Materials
Please bring with you for the first session:
- Sketchbook or notebook (A4 or A3 sizes are ideal)
- Sketching pencils, a set of at least 3 (HB, B, H)
- Tape measure
Items required for the latter half of the course:
- Adjustable set square (20 cm minimum)
- Isometric graph paper pad, size A4
