Course overview
Join this short course on styling interiors to learn about colour theory, room layout, how to shop for styling elements, working with texture and fabrics, as well as key interior trends and styles. An introduction to styling for magazines and interior product photography will also be covered.
You'll learn all the skills required to style beautiful interiors and magazine projects. Whether you have an interest in styling real homes, photographic shoots or styling for magazine projects you'll learn all the rules of an interior stylist to then create your own portfolio of work.
Structured around an interiors brief and various practical lessons you will learn the principles of styling.
This course is available both on campus or online.

Anyone with an interest in interiors looking to grow their knowledge and experience of styling. Ideal if you are looking to pursue a career as a photographic stylist, interior stylist or events stylist.
This course is also suitable for those interested in learning how to style their own home or prepare it for a future sale or rental.

On campus or online
- Notebook, pen and pencils
- Scissors and scalpel
- Ruler
- Pencil sharpener and eraser
- Glue stick
- Copydex glue (or glue suitable for sticking fabric)
- A selection of interior design and lifestyle magazines which you are prepared to cut up for images or brochures with interiors products
Students may want to bring a laptop for on campus classes to do digital mood boards but it is not essential.

Emma Morton-Turner has been an interior stylist for eighteen years working across many magazine titles including Ideal Home, Country Homes and Interiors, House Beautiful, Style at Home and Woman & Home where she was Home Editor for five years. She's styled many commercial shoots creating company brochures, look books, set up press launches and held press events. She's also the founder of InsideStylists.com, a website dedicated to promoting the interiors industry and the stylists, writers and assistants who work within it, with weekly features and podcast interviews with industry experts.
