Course overview
The Complete Stylist Short Course has been designed to help you develop the necessary skills and contacts to begin producing and styling your own shoots. You will also create from scratch or refine and develop a portfolio of work that represents your unique point of view as a fashion stylist.
This in-depth course will introduce you to the contemporary fashion media and allow you the time to develop a unique voice as a fashion stylist. You will gain insider knowledge and one-to-one industry advice that is focused on your individual work and professional development.
During the course, you will meet a range of fashion industry professionals who are all currently working on innovative editorial and commercial work. You'll style and direct a number of fashion shoots, including a fashion editorial shoot with a professional photographer, an agency model and industry makeup artist. You will also visit London exhibitions and fashion hotspots with a guide to street style spotting and a 'trend safari' around London.

Please note: this course will have a blended format and will take place on campus and online between the following days:
- Saturdays 10am - 5pm at London College of Fashion
- Wednesdays 6pm - 8pm Online
The course will start on Saturday on campus.
Who this course is for
This course is suitable for beginners. You should have an interest in the subject area and a desire to learn but no previous experience is required. This course is also suitable for fashion creatives who have previous experience but want to refine their work and develop their existing portfolios.

- Basic studio lighting and photographic skills - so you are able to create fashion imagery independently
- Studio shoots with different technical lighting and photographic styles
- Creation of (or developing an existing) personal portfolio of fashion images showing your own styling and creative direction
Learning outcomes
- Have learned the practical aspects of working as a fashion stylist
- Understand the role of styling within the contemporary fashion industry and the different career paths open to you
- Started to develop a unique voice as a fashion creative
- Have created (with tutor guidance) a clear career plan and the essential resources ready to reach out to editors/companies (including CV / cover letter)
- Create from scratch, or refine an existing portfolio of creative work ready to show clients and editors
- Conducted original primary research in London, and gathered quality secondary research within the LCF library/archive to develop unique creative concepts and proposals
- Be able to create a visually dynamic, professional mood board / concept deck
- Be able to work on self-directed fashion shoots with confidence
