Course overview
The course will capture the spirit and enthusiasm of the BA degree course at Central Saint Martins, with an emphasis on experimentation, the generation of ideas and an awareness of our surroundings. The development of practical skills and techniques through workshops will be interlinked with group projects and constructive group crits.
Who this course is for
This course is suitable for anyone, aged 18 and older, interested in exploring illustration, regardless of prior experience. Beginners are welcome, as are those looking to expand existing knowledge.

- Practical workshops, aimed to build confidence and explore different aspects of contemporary illustration through making and idea generation
- Looking at an illustrator's working experience such as creating images for a particular audience for example children or editorial images for newspaper and magazines and working to a set size
- Narrative illustration and storytelling through sequential imagery
- Storyboarding and simple bookbinding
- Text and image using lettering and hand drawn type as a form of illustration
- How to gather primary research through observational drawing and working on location
- Develop images through a variety of materials including drawing, collage and mono-printing

Ann Course
Ann Course gained her MA from the Royal College of Art in 1993. She is a practising artist and teaches on the BA Graphic Design course at Central Saint Martins.
