Bio-Inspired Textiles are looking for product, furniture, jewellery, footwear, transport, or any other types of designers for a funded design collaboration.
You do not need to have experience in design informed by biology to benefit from this opportunity – however, you do need to have an interest in learning from biology, and an ambition to implement and innovate sustainable design.
About Bio-inspired Textiles
Bio-inspired Textiles (BIT) is a UAL research project that helps textile designers to create more sustainable designs because they are informed by biology. This research explores 7 biological structural design elements found in the natural world that can be applied to combat resource efficiency, longevity, and recovery.
The term ‘Bio-Inspired Design’ describes the practice of drawing ideas from biological systems and structures and apply them to design solutions for human problems. The purpose of Bio-Inspired Design is to advance the skills and knowledge of circular, sustainable and regenerative design practice.
