UAL appoints Jane McFadyen as Interim Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of Camberwell, Chelsea & Wimbledon Colleges of Arts

Jane McFadyen, Interim Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of Camberwell, Chelsea & Wimbledon Colleges of Arts, UAL

Jane McFadyen has been appointed Interim UAL Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of Camberwell, Chelsea & Wimbledon Colleges of Arts. She takes up post on 6 June 2022, initially for a period of two years.

Jane is currently Dean of Academic Strategy at Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon Colleges of Arts, where her achievements include a joint project on community engagement and graduate incubation with Southwark Council. At university level, she chaired the academic response to the COVID pandemic, advising Executive Board on academic quality assurance and risk management.

Jane has the great ability to build consensus for strategic innovation, reimagining our models to meet the needs of new types of students. She epitomises the collaborative, collegiate approach that underpins Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon Colleges.

Jane was previously Principal Lecturer, Engaged Curriculum, at Manchester School of Art where she was Academic Lead for Unit X, an innovative cross-disciplinary unit focusing on collaboration, external engagement and employability. This won the Sir Misha Black Award for Innovation in Design Education. Her publications include ‘Curiosity over conformity: The Maker’s Palette – a case for hands-on learning’ and ‘Design Collaborations: The Good, the Bad, and the Unthinkable’.
