In February, graduates and current students joined the Sustainability Alumni Network for an inspiring evening celebrating innovation and creativity.
The network organised a panel discussion at London College of Fashion between 2 former students who have grown fed up with the waste and mindlessness of fast fashion, and are changing the system from within.
The discussion between Kaela Katz and Giovanna Vieira focused on strategies for a sustainable future using a materials-first mindset.
Kaela is the founder and director of FibreLab. Since graduating from LCF with an MA Fashion Futures in 2021, she's been revolutionising the textile industry. By using a custom-built mechanical shredding machine, FibreLab transforms post-industrial textile waste into valuable recycled fibre.
Giovanna is the founder of THE FASHION BLUEPRINT, consulting agency where she’s built a community of more than 6,000 fashion entrepreneurs. She graduated from LCF with a BA (Hons) in Fashion Management in 2017.
The event was moderated by Katie Kubrak, President of the Sustainability Alumni Network. As the Head of Insight at Nirvana CPH, Katie uses her understanding of sustainability to champion a material-driven design approach.
