Biography

Charlie Abbott is a senior lecturer and first year leader on the BA Graphic Design course at Camberwell College of Arts.

He is a co-founder of work-form, a graphic design studio that works with a range of organisations, from individuals, community groups and independent businesses, to cultural institutions and international brands, producing visual identities, typefaces, book design and websites.

Recent clients include BBC Media Action, Ebbsfleet Garden City, Institute for Global Health (UCL), City & Guilds of London Art School, Freedom From Torture, John Latham Foundation, Spitfire Audio, Royal College of Art and Whitstable Biennale.

work-form is particularly interested in exploring methods of production that disrupt the traditional client-designer relationship, and often seeks new ways of collaborating that include a range of audiences and stakeholders in each part of the design process.

Charlie's research interests include language, typography, and the relationship between theory, writing and studio practice.

He has taught and lectured at a range of universities and institutions, including Central St. Martins, Chelsea College of Arts, Kingston School of Art, Norwich University of the Arts, Sheffield Hallam University and Royal College of Art.
