London College of Fashion graduate Kamiqua Lake is an award-winning public relations (PR) and communications expert, who has dedicated her career to elevating underrepresented communities through impactful storytelling. Her sense of purpose is rooted in her own experience climbing up the industry ladder and having to overcome racial bias — to which, she attests, her education was integral.
Upon achieving her degree in Fashion Promotion, Public Relations, Journalism and Broadcast, Kamiqua accumulated cross-sectorial experience at multinational companies including Aldi, Hertz, and Reckitt. This naturally led to her return to UAL, this time London College of Communication, as a founding member of the Industry Advisory Board and visiting lecturer on the Agency Life module, to help students bridge the gap between their academic study and working in the PR industry.
To prevent others from experiencing the same challenges and provide a safe space, Kamiqua founded the UK Black Comms Network, which provides resources, masterclasses and peer to peer networking for Black PR and comms professionals.
To help brands reach new and historically excluded audiences Kamiqua founded Coldr, an inclusive, marketing PR and social impact consultancy where she serves as CEO and includes Lloyds Banking Group, eBay and Somerset House on its client roster. Kamiqua has won the best PR For Good Award at The Drum and was featured in the PR Week Powerbook.
