Biography

Honorary Fellow

Kojey Radical (born Kwadwo Adu Genfi Amponsah) is a prolific music artist and a graduate of Fashion Illustration at London College of Fashion. His creative prowess has seen him blur the lines between rap, funk, spoken word and poetry to fashion, art and film, rendering him a multi-hyphenate phenomenon.

Born and raised in East London, Kojey’s vulnerable yet visceral work positions him at the forefront of underground Black music, which is occupying a growing space within the mainstream. Following a series of acclaimed EPs that were supported by cultural powerhouses like Michaela Coel and Ghetts, he released his highly anticipated debut album, Reason To Smile, in 2022, which was quickly shortlisted for the Mercury Prize.

Reason To Smile is an amalgamation of Radical’s Ghanaian roots, familial teachings and an inspection of manhood. Despite its personal nature, the artist utilises the subsequent success to lift others who are branded as “alternative” by the industry, platforming them with him on stage.
