Biography

As a letterpress practitioner, Alexander Cooper's research focuses on the interaction between content and process, exploring the relationship between technology and historical methods of production within a post-digital landscape. He has worked, exhibited and spoken about his work internationally, at conferences including ATypI (Barcelona), AIGA (USA), and College Arts Association (USA). He has undertaken residencies at the Plantin Moretus Museum (Antwerp) and Archivio di Sacchi (Milan).

He co-designs, publishes and edits a journal, Im-Pressed, with colleague Tim Hutchinson who he has collaborated with since 2013.
This occasional publication explores the territory between analogue and digital typography and language, challenging assumptions through an evolving series of experiments.
