Biography

Amanda Jenkins is the Dean of UAL School of Pre-Degree Studies (SPDS).


Originally trained in Illustration and Graphic Design, she practised in this field professionally before going into full-time arts education.


Amanda is a qualified teacher with over 30 years' experience of teaching, leadership and management in Further and Higher Education, and has taught Art & Design in several contexts including at the Victoria and Albert Museum and Tate Galleries London.


She is also an experienced external examiner at further education and undergraduate level. Amanda joined University of Arts London in 2007 and has worked in several Academic and Leadership roles at Camberwell, London College of Fashion, and London College of Communication before taking up her current role at SPDS in 2024.


Amanda has an MA in Art and Design in Education at the Institute of Education, UCL London. Her teaching and research interests are currently focused on drawing practice and pedagogy, museum/object-based learning, and creative pedagogies used to support transitions into Higher Education.
