Biography

I hold a PhD and MA from the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy, Kingston University and a BA (Hons) Philosophy from the University of Sussex. I am accredited as a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (HEA) and a member of Mexico's National System of Researchers (SNI). I have previously held teaching positions at University College London, Newcastle and Roehampton as well as visiting research appointments at the University of Amsterdam's School for Cultural Analysis and UCL's Institute of Advanced Studies. Between 2020-2022 I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the UNAM's College of Philosophy in Mexico City.

Research
My primary areas of research are social and political thought (including contemporary political/critical theory and the history of social and political ideas), post-Kantian philosophy, ethics and aesthetics. I am especially interested in bringing global and transdisciplinary perspectives to bear on these areas of enquiry.

My first book, Subsumption in Kant, Hegel & Marx: From the Critique of Reason to the Critique of Society, was published by Brill in 2024 and I am currently preparing an edited collection for Bloomsbury titled Marx & the Critique of Humanism. My writing has also appeared in journals such as Radical Philosophy, Language Sciences and the European Journal of Social Theory. I am co-director of The Philosopher, Britain’s oldest public philosophy journal (founded in 1923) and sit on the executive committee of the Society for European Philosophy.

My research has been supported by grants from the British Academy, Arts & Humanities Research Council, Natural Environment Research Council, Kings Culture and Mexican Foreign Office.

Creative Practice
My creative practice is primarily focused on sound and performance. My works and performances have been commissioned/featured in programs at the British Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum, Cafe OTO, UNESCO Living Coast Biosphere, Whitechapel Gallery, BBC Radio, Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Roma, Villa Lontana, Flat Time House, HKW Berlin and ZKM Center for Art and Media, Karlsruhe and have been supported by funding from Arts Council England and the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). I have collaborated on artistic projects with Assemble, Hito Steyerl, Walter Maoili, Public Data Lab, Cooperativa Cráter Invertido, Villa Lontana and Emiddio Vasquez.
