Biography

As a practicing artist with a fashion design background my research looks at the relationship between states of mind and dress and the performativity of the body conditioned by dress and space (physically and psychologically).

My most recent film Childhood Storage is shot entirely within a detailed replica of my small childhood bedroom. The film is inspired by the fact that mothers often preserve their child's bedroom from the moment the child leaves home, creating a kind of physical storage for childhood. It presents ideas of how we are physically and psychologically shaped (and haunted) by our childhood.

I created one-piece jumpsuits consisting of two identical jumpers that take their decorative pattern from the jumpers I knitted as a child. My body is modified accordingly by fitting prosthetic foot gloves over my hands that determine my movements. These self-styled garments are the precondition for my work.
