Biography

Anna Troisi is an internationally recognized digital artist, researcher, experimental electronic musician, performer, and programmer whose work bridges technology, human interaction, and creative expression. With a background in computer science, music, neuroscience, and nanotechnology, Anna brings an interdisciplinary perspective to her research and teaching, driven by a commitment to advancing equitable futures. Over the past 15 years, she has explored how empirical datasets — including seismic, physiological, and environmental data — can act as compositional material in sound art and performance.

At the heart of Anna’s practice is the "Design for Change" framework, which integrates creative computing, custom-built electroacoustic instruments, data-driven insights, and community engagement to address pressing social and environmental challenges.

Her work explores the transformative potential of sound and data, creating multisensory installations and performances using interactive systems, sonification techniques, and bespoke software.

As a composer and performer, Anna’s artistic work explores sound as a bridge between technology and human senses. Her compositions span acousmatic, acoustic, environmental, and data-driven sound art, often blending empirical data — such as brainwave activity, seismic monitoring, and photoplethysmographic signals — with creative expression.

Anna has collaborated extensively with international artists, performing at major festivals such as the Angelica Festival in Bologna and the Trialogo Festival at Fondazione Pistoletto, Biella. Her work Cloud Chamber was presented at the California Academy of Sciences, and her performance OB-scene has been cited in academic discourse on sonic cyberfeminism.

In her academic role, Anna serves as Deputy Chair of the Research Ethics and Knowledge Exchange Sub-Committee at UAL. She is also a member of the CCI Research Committee and the UAL REF group.

Her previous leadership roles include positions at Bournemouth University aas research centre lead and the University of Greenwich (REF lead).

Anna’s interdisciplinary work invites audiences and collaborators to reflect on sound, data, and technology’s role in shaping a sustainable and equitable future.
