Biography

Batool Desouky is a computational artist working in code, physical computing, drawing and writing. Their work is built on a practice-based research on Arabic ritual practices to explore decolonial histories for technology. They was awarded the Arts Council England DYCP fund for the year 2022/23. Their work was published in Leonardo, Volume 56, Issue 3 (June 2023). They have presented work at Loosing The Plot, Hypha Studios, London (2024); Imagine Fund, Barbican Centre, London (2024); From Cloud To Crowd, NEoN Digital Arts SCIO, Dundee (2022); Toppling, SET Woolwich, London (2022); In-grid Real Bodies, Corsica Studios, London (2022); Dreaming Reconstructions, The Feminist Library, London (2021). They were speaker at CTM Festival Research Networking Day (2021) and were part of residency with Arebyte Gallery, London (2020). Batool is an artist-researcher on the ServPub project curated by Winnie Soon and Geoff Cox, as part of their work as In-grid Collective, where they expriment with building collective technical infrastructure for research and practice on experimental and computational publishing.
