Caroline Stevenson

Biography

Caroline Stevenson is Interim Director of the Centre for Fashion Curation and Programme Director for Cultural and Historical Studies at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. A curator and writer, she works across the fields of fashion and contemporary art with an emphasis on collaborative and critical methods of practice.

Caroline has produced projects and programmed events for Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art, ICA, Arcade East, Barbican, Tate Britain, Tenderbooks, Kunstverein München, TemporaryContemporary, Onomatopee, Dutch Design Week, the Fashion Space Gallery and a range of temporary spaces. Her curatorial practice has been recognised through several grants from Arts Council England and the British Council.

She is co-founder of Modus, a curatorial platform and network for expanded fashion practice. Modus produces exhibitions, events and publications bringing together an international community of fashion practitioners and cultural institutions to promote dialogue and new collaborations between fashion practice and theory. She is also co-editor of Fashion Practice: The Journal for Design, Creative Process and the Fashion Industry.

Caroline publishes scholarly and critical writing on contemporary art and fashion cultures and curates exhibitions and projects internationally. She is currently developing an exhibition on fashion and storytelling in collaboration with V&A East that will open in Autumn 2026.

A frequent media commentator, Caroline's knowledge and opinion on historical and contemporary fashion has appeared across the global media, including BBC World Service, BBC Culture, Vogue, The Guardian, The Times Style Magazine, Stylist, Harper's Bazaar, WWD and the Financial Times.
