Biography

Damian is a senior lecturer who works as a language development tutor at the Language Centre and is based at LCF where he offers in-sessional language support on a variety of courses.

He is interested in teacher education and the relationships between educational and language policies with practice. His doctoral thesis explored how a group of Thai English-language teachers conceptualised the English language policy in Thailand by investigating their practices and beliefs in order to better understand the gap that exists between the goals of the policy and what actually occurs in the classroom.

He is also interested in ways of 'making language more visible' at the university and with this in mind, set up the 'What do we mean when we talk about language' series of talks at the Language Centre in order to support a deeper understanding of the role of language across the university and to promote discussions around what language is and does in a university context.
