Biography
Eric Fanghanel is an London based Mexican born artist, programer and educator, creating contingent identities through assemblages, using science fiction, virtual reality, artificial intelligences and living systems.Eric was born in Mexico City, completed his BA in Industrial design and moved to Germany to work as a programmer in the internet decentralization field with Jolocom in collaboration with the Ethereum Foundation. He moved to California in 2017 and finished his MFA in New Media from the University of California Los Angeles 2018.
Since 2021 he has been involved with Isovist, designing interaction systems for extended reality, for which he holds a number of patents.
He has taught creative coding, fine arts and media arts, at Art Center College of Design, University of California, Los Angeles, and University of Southern California. He now teaches Extended reality at University of the arts London where he focuses on narrative and interaction.
Past collaborators and clients include The Processing Foundation, LACMA, the LA Philharmonic, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Bruce Nauman Studio, Rebecca Allen, April Greiman, Armen Avanessian, Banff Centre for the Arts, and Thomas Mann House.
