Biography

Friendred Peng is an award-winning installation and computational artist currently based in London, founder and director of STUDIO FRIENDRED. He is the course leader for MA 3D Computer Animation at LCC UAL.

Friendred has worked at various academic institutions and universities. He previously worked as research lead for the 3D computer animation online unit as part of UAL ONLINE across six colleges, lecturer in Digital Media Production at the Institute of Education, University College London (IOE, UCL) and as a module leader in Computing at Goldsmiths teaching interactive data visualization and creative computing projects.

He recently finished his PhD thesis, researching the intertwined relationship between technology, installation and performance arts in the field of human-computer interaction (HCI). He holds an MFA in Computational Arts at Goldsmiths and BA in Animation & Digital Media at Jiangnan University.

Several of his works have been published on well-known design and technology platforms including DesignBoom, Wallpaper and CreativeApplications. His art and research have been recognized by various awards and honors including the Oppo Renovator Award, the Shanghai Da Shi Award and the Bronze prize in the third Cultural and Creative Design Competition, amongst others. Friendred has exhibited works such as “Moving Photon” at Ugly Duck, “The Light” and “The Wind” at Tate Britain, “Skin-Awareness III” in Arizona. He has also exhibited at the design museum and pieces in several other museums and galleries internationally. His work has been presented at design festivals, including Dutch design week, London design festival and amongst others.
