Biography
Hanjun Shi is a PhD student at University of the Arts London, specialising in the study of classical and medieval receptions in digital games, especially in the game Genshin Impact. Previously, they presented the research paper on Pentiment during the Digital Games Research Association conference in 2024.Before pursuing a PhD, they earned a BA and MA in History, with expertise in the history of classical Greece, the medieval Carolingian Empire, and late medieval England. Additionally, Hanjun completed an MA in Games Design at UAL, combining historical knowledge with technical and creative skills to explore how games can engage with culture, history, and identity.
As a lucky kitten lover who lived in a community with twenty-one adorable cats and a game designer who focuses on how to use entertainment to reflect modern-day issues, such as the crisis of living, they have produced eight games while advancing their PhD in Game Studies and Game Design career.
