Haohui Liu

Biography

Haohui Liu is a PhD candidate at the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London, where he specialises in the intersection of Photojournalism and Platform Studies. His research project, entitled “Photojournalism Practice and Audience Engagement on Instagram: Has the Promise of an Independent Distribution Platform Been Realised?”, investigates how visual journalists navigate the affordances and constraints of social media in an era of digital disruption.

Alongside his academic work, Liu is an associate lecturer and a photography specialist technician at LCC, where he teaches BA Photography and BA Photojournalism and Documentary Photography. His art work, often grounded in personal and archival narratives, explores themes of identity, memory, and socio-technical transformation across cultural and generational lines.
