Biography

I am a visual artist and academic whose work spans both artistic practice and critical research, with a focus on queer subjectivity, identity, and masculinity in the context of fashion photography. My PhD by Publication, *Repositioning Queer Modernism: Men’s Fashion Photography and the Production of New Gay Subjectivities*, explores the intersection of queer identity and visual culture, with an emphasis on how contemporary fashion photography shapes and challenges representations of masculinity and sexuality.

My work has been published in a series of monographs by Super Labo in Japan (*Fifteen Minutes with You*, 2012) and by Damien Hirst's Other Criteria in the UK (*End of Real*, 2005; *Yassin*, 2009; *Chokras’ Mahal (Boys' Palace)*, 2011). In addition to my written work, I have exhibited widely, with solo and group exhibitions at venues such as the White Cube gallery in London, and have shown my work in Europe, Japan, China, Israel, and the United States. These exhibitions have positioned me as an active participant in the ongoing conversation surrounding identity, masculinity, and queer theory within the visual arts.

My academic contributions include numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles on the construction of identity and masculinity through photographic images. These works have been cited in a range of critical art publications, including *The Story of The Face: The Magazine that Changed Culture* by Paul Gorman, *Moving Targets 2: A User's Guide to British Art Now* by Louisa Buck, *Lucky Kunst: The Rise and Fall of Young British Art* by Gregor Muir, *White Cube: 44 Duke Street, St James's, London* by Liam Gillick, *Display Copy Only: A Book of Intro Work* by Adrian Shaughnessy, and *Factual Nonsense* by Darren Coffield.

In the realm of fashion, my creative work and collaborations with high-profile brands such as Hermès, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Armani, Chanel, Coach, and Martine Rose have been featured in leading fashion and culture magazines, including *Numéro Berlin*, *Numéro Homme Berlin*, *Frankfurter Allgemeine Quarterly*, *Numéro China*, *Replica Man Magazine*, and *Heroine Magazine*.

This blend of artistic practice and scholarly research has helped me develop a unique position at the intersection of contemporary visual culture, queer theory, and fashion photography, with a focus on the evolving construction of gender and sexuality in visual media.
