Biography

Dr Jane Shepard has held a number of roles in Higher Education Institutions supporting researchers, research projects; impact development and REF 2021 planning and delivery. She was responsible for coordinating and delivering researcher development training and resources across Goldsmiths, University of London and leading on initiatives as part of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers and European Commission’s HR Excellence in Research scheme. Jane joined University of Arts, London in 2022 and currently works as a Research and Knowledge Exchange Staff Development Manager, leading training and development programmes for academic and professional services staff engaged in research and knowledge exchange.

Jane's PhD titled; 'The Inception & Implementation of Design and Technology in the English School Curriculum, 1988-2012: A Design History Perspective' (2022, University of Brighton) drew on archival collections and literatures to explore the history and development of design-related subjects for children in general education contexts.

Jane's current research interests are in the career development needs of creative practitioners and professional support staff who are engaged in research & knowledge exchange in academic contexts. She has co-delivered training and workshops with ARMA, presented at Vitae's annual conference and has recently been awarded a place on the Journal of Research Administrators (JRA) Author Fellowship Programme 2022 to develop an article on this topic.
