Jennifer Sykes

Biography

Jen is a Lecturer on the Diploma and Graduate Diploma in Creative Computing at the CCI.


Her research explores how process and mistakes can inform a material practice within Creative Computing, focusing on the design of tangible tools for education. Alongside her research Jen often develops her own software and hardware, frequently fabricating sensors, interfaces and interactive installations for other artists and designers. Recent commissions include the BBC, Glasgow International Visual Art Festival, Yuri Suzuki, Sonica Festival and Edinburgh Art Festival.

External to her role at UAL, Jen has taught Physical Computing, Interactive Prototyping and Creative Coding internationally at the Glasgow School of Art, The Danish Royal Academy of Art and Design , Copenhagen Institute for Interaction Design and Umeå Institute of Design, Sweden.

She has presented research at xCoAx, EAD and is a recent recipient of the Alan Turing Enrichment Fund.
