Biography
Hello, I'm Karen Matthewman and I have been working in Higher Education for over 25 years as a teacher, academic manager, and educational leader. My background is in Applied Linguistics after a decade post- University travelling and teaching English around the world.
In former roles I led teams and then a department in Academic Literacies practices, but In recent years have been working with staff teams and individuals on developing their own educational practice and that of their students. I am currently working full time at the Teaching Learning and Employability Exchange as an educational developer (Reward and Recognition) and co-leading the institutional Advance HE Accredited fellowship scheme here at UAL, helping colleagues to gain fellowship.
I am now in the process of studying for a Doctorate (EdD) at the Institute of Education focusing on Higher Educational Leadership practices and have some pre-published work that I would value any feedback on: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Karen-Matthewman
I am very interested in how those working in higher Education perceive their leadership practices, particularly those who are clearly leaders but hesitate to frame themselves so.
My research interests include:
Higher educational leadership
Accreditation reward and leadership
Internationalization and inclusion
