Biography

I am an educator, researcher and architectural historian. At UAL I hold two Senior Lecturer posts. The first is History and Theory Coordinator for BA Interior and Spatial Design at Camberwell College of Arts, where my teaching addresses questions of critical theory, architectural history, spatial writing and research methodologies. My second post is Unit Lead for Creative Unions, Central Saint Martins' undergraduate collaborative unit, in which I facilitate cross-disciplinary conversations around environmentally and socially engaged creative practice.

In 2021 I completed my PhD which examined the architecture of progressive education in twentieth-century England. Its creative research method comprised archival research, site-based investigation, oral history interviews, performance writing, as well as a participatory, live construction and performance project for thirty Year 6 students and their teachers in south London. I was awarded a PhD Scholarship from the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain (SAHGB) in 2017 to complete the research.

I have presented my architectural history research at academic conferences (SAHGB, 2018; The Bartlett School of Architecture, 2020) and it has been published in the edited volume Reconstruction (Bloomsbury, 2023). My educational research on collaborative pedagogy and practice has also been published in an edited volume (Routledge, 2020) and in two journals (JUTLP, 2022; ADCHE, 2023). I am currently working on revising my PhD into an open access digital book, in between enjoying east London's parks and dynamic vinyasa.
