Biography

Kimberly Shen is a curator and arts educator based in Singapore. She is a second-year PhD student at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London and her research project is titled, "Methods of care: Feminist curating as ​an embodied transference of language and knowledge".

Over the past decade, she has worked extensively with emerging and established artists from Singapore and Southeast Asia. Selected curatorial projects include: Unpacked by Melati Suryodarmo (2023), ShanghART Gallery; across the way by Salty Xie Jie Ng (2023), starch; While She Quivers (2022), Dancing Alone (Don’t Leave Me) by Susie Wong (2020), Objectifs - Centre for Photography and Film; Image+Body: exhibition and performance (2018), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts; and Residency as method (2015), Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore.

She co-founded ellipsis journal (2013 - 2015), a London/Singapore print publication which has been distributed at local and international art book fairs, and established dblspce (2021 - present), an integrated studio and incubator dedicated to artistic practice. In recognition of her curatorial practice, she was awarded the IMPART Art Prize (Curator Category) in 2019. A recipient of the National Arts Council Arts Scholarship (Postgraduate), she graduated with a Master of Research in Art: Theory and Philosophy from Central Saint Martins, UAL. She is currently the Programme Leader (Fine Art) at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Singapore.
