Biography

MA Japanese Studies + PhD Film Studies, SOAS, University of London - specialising in Japanese cinema, music, anime, manga and popular culture. Strong background in the UK music industry and journalism.

My PhD thesis combined my interests in Japan and music, entitled: "From score to song - The rise of the ‘star composer’ and the role of music in contemporary anime"

My writing has previously been published in both NEO Magazine and the Japan Society Review. Formerly Managing Editor of the journal Japan Forum (2019-2022)

AFHEA (Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy). Recipient of the Meiji Jingu Japanese Studies Research Scholarship, Japan Research Centre Fuwaku Fund and British Association of Japanese Studies (BAJS) John Crump Studentship.
