Biography
I am the Stage 3 Leader in the BA (Hons) Graphic Communication Design Programme at Central Saint Martins. I have a MFA in Graphic Design from Rhode Island School of Design and a BA in Art (with a concentration in Graphic Design) from Yale University. I have completed my PG Certification in Teaching and Learning in Art and Design and was successfully awarded the Fellow status of Higher Education Academy.Born in Hawaii, raised in Hong Kong, and educated in the United States, I have diverse and international experience in both teaching and industry practice. My teaching experience in Higher Education in the UK began in 2014, where I have taught across various year groups in Graphic Communication Design Programmes at both CSM and Chelsea College of Art. I was also an adjunct professor teaching final year students at Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of Art. My practice lies within the world of storytelling, with a focus on editorial design and custom publishing. I have worked as a designer and art director at various small and large scale design studios and agencies in both New York and London.
As an academic, I have a particular research interest in bridging the gap between student practices and industry practices. I am continually looking at ways we can embed Careers and Employability support within the curriculum in order to enable students to develop confident, reflective practices that allow them to contribute meaningfully and impact the various industries within the discipline.
