Biography

Liz is an educational developer situated in the Teaching, Learning & Employability Exchange, and the academic enhancement lead at London College of Fashion. She works with colleagues to develop pedagogies and practices that promote equitable experiences and outcomes for students, aiming is to nurture socially-just educational communities where all staff and students thrive.

Liz leads a programme of educational development work in Fostering Belonging and Compassionate Pedagogies, and co-publishes a range of open-access teaching and learning resources and research publications. These include co-authoring the website Belonging Through Compassion, a series of podcasts and video showcases, and the AEM Toolbox, a set of practical resources which draw on sector research and local practice to share enhancement approaches for student success.

Liz's research explores ecologies of belonging in Higher Education, entangled within relational, compassionate and trauma informed practices. She is currently co-leading the QAA Collaborative Enhancement Project Compassionate Assessment in Higher Education with the University of Bedfordshire and Queen Margaret University. Prior she led the trauma-informed policy research strand on the QAA Collaborative Enhancement Project Belonging Through Assessment with Glasgow School of Art, Leeds Arts University and University of the Arts London.


Liz has over 10 years experience as an educator in art and design higher education, enriched by 15 years experience as a creative strategist in the UK advertising industry. She is a Senior Fellow of AdvanceHE and a recipient of the AdvanceHE Collaborative Award of Teaching Excellence.
