Biography
Dr Liz Gee brings a unique blend of industry experience and academic expertise to her role as Dean of the Fashion Business School. Her career spans both the commercial fashion world and higher education, giving her an understanding of how the two sectors connect and inform each other. As a qualified chartered accountant (FCA), she gained experience across the Arcadia brands before becoming Corporate Treasurer at Debenhams. She later moved to Barclays, where she worked as a Relationship Director for retail and wholesale businesses.Liz holds a doctorate in education and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She's received several teaching awards, reflecting her commitment to making complex business concepts accessible. Her approach combines academic rigor with practical application, helping students understand not just the theory but how it works in practice. She supervises students across all levels, from undergraduates to PhD candidates, and teaches subject areas including corporate governance, leadership, risk management, and financial strategy. Recently, she co-authored the second edition of "Fashion Management: A Strategic Approach," which has become a key text for fashion business students internationally. Liz also works with small and medium-sized enterprises, coaching them in financial management techniques.
