Biography

Lucy Thornett is a Senior Lecturer in Scenographic Practices on the BA (Hons) Design for Branded Spaces at London College of Communication and the research and knowledge exchange coordinator for the LCC Design School.

Her research and practice is in scenography. She makes immersive and site specific performances and installations, and has designed sets and costumes for numerous productions.

She is currently completing a part-time AHRC funded practice-led PhD in scenography at the University of Leeds. Her PhD focuses on audience experiences of augmented reality scenographies. She is also associate editor reviews for Theatre and Performance Design journal. In 2023 she was co-curator (with Dr Kathrine Sandys, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama) of hello stranger: UK performance design 2019-2023, which included a national festival of performance design, the UK exhibit at the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, and a three-part publication series with Performance Research Books.

She has previously taught design at a number of institutions in Australia.
