Biography
I am a writer, educator and researcher interested in cultural history, class, and creativity and critical practice.I currently hold the position of Senior Lecturer / Critical Practice Coordinator with BA Textile Design at Chelsea College of the Arts. Prior to taking this post I worked with a number of institutions, including University of Brighton, Kingston University, and Goldsmiths, University of London as an associate lecturer.
Along with my colleague, Sicgmone Kludje, I founded the Interventions initiative. Interventions addresses issues of equality, diversity and inclusivity by inviting practitioners to design and deliver an ‘intervention’ for the Design and Material Practices programme at Chelsea College of Art.
I obtained my PhD from the University of Brighton, where my research focussed on representations of working-class masculinities. I am currently researching the radical potential of creative and critical practice. Alongside my research and teaching I am an active screenwriter (with two scripts currently in development), published author of prose fiction, and frequently work with artists and photographers.
Research outputs include a monograph, book chapter, speculative fiction, poetry, and conference papers. I have presented my work at international conferences.
