Megan Rowden

Biography

I am a PhD student based in the ceramic department at Central St Martins. My thesis title is 'The Bonds between Artist, Clay and the Audience and how to develop them'. Bonds are at the core of this practice-based PhD. A triangular relationship is formed when looking at the bonds between the Artist, Clay and the Audience. While all mediums are seemingly created equal in contemporary art, clay walks a much more complex path to the gallery space. I am using participatory art to stimulate emotional transference between the artist, clay and the audience. My research will define and highlight the Material -led practice an emergent area in contemporary art.

I am also a Programme Area Manager for Ceramics at Morley College.
