Biography

Nathalie Hankir is a British-born, Swedish-Lebanese PhD researcher at Central Saint Martins. Her research focuses on hunting amongst men in rural Sweden, exploring it as a ritualized expression of masculinity shaped by silence, tradition, and embodied knowledge. Drawing on philosophy, anthropology, and phenomenology, she examines how material objects, such as weapons, heirlooms, and taxidermy, serve as vessels of emotional and cultural meaning. Her work offers a Nordic-centred redefinition of luxury, rooted in restraint, solitude, and an intimate relationship with nature.
