Biography

Paul Finn is a Senior Lecturer on the Graphic Communication Design (GCD) programme at Central Saint Martins, London.

He leads the Information & Systems platform on the BA (Hons) Graphic Communication Design course, where students investigate how data, maps, diagrams, and design shape the ways we understand the world. His teaching fosters experimentation, play, and critical inquiry, encouraging students to engage with the often-hidden systems that influence everyday life.

As Knowledge Exchange Lead for the GCD programme, Paul creates opportunities for students and staff to collaborate with cultural organisations, public bodies, and industry. He has developed successful partnerships with BBC UX&D, Transport for London, the Natural History Museum, the Museum of London, the Museum of the Home, The Horse Hospital, and the Wellcome Collection. These student-focused Knowledge Exchange projects open up spaces for students, staff, and partners to share ideas, perspectives, and knowledge, generating new forms of learning and practice.

Prior to focusing all his time to Higher Education, for 17 years Paul ran Fitzroy & Finn, a graphic design studio which specialised in developing design systems for digital products and services for clients including BBC, TfL, Tate, Serpentine Gallery, Monocle.com & ITV. He brings over 20 years of industry experience to his teaching practice and approach.
