Paula Smithard

Biography

Paula Smithard is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art Theory and is Year 2 Leader of BA Hons Painting at Camberwell College of Arts. In this role Paula has also been running a number of external collaborations between Year 2 Painting and local organisations, including exhibitions at Brixton Tate Library, contributions to Dulwich Picture Gallery Lates and an in-house exhibition for Ogilvy UK advertising agency at Sea Containers, London, SE1.

Paula’s background is in history of modern art, design & film. After several years as an arts administrator, Paula began working at the Serpentine Gallery in the early 90s. Paula later went on to lecture widely on modern and contemporary art including regularly at Loughborough College of Art & Design (now School of Design & Creative Arts, Loughborough University); Central Saint Martins (UAL), Goldsmiths, University of London; Birkbeck, University of London; Camberwell College of Arts (UAL) and The Open University.
