Peter Maloney

Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer at Camberwell College of Arts, part of the University of the Arts London. I teach on the MA Interior and Spatial Design course. I am also a researcher in digital spatial practices and pedagogies. I am currently preparing a series of Lectures on the theme of 'Worldbuilding' - the invention of consistent imaginary worlds in and through writing, illustration, architecture, film, gaming and mixed reality technologies. It looks at speculative design practices and asks; "What is the world we want to live in?" and "How do we get there from here?"

I collaborated with designers Collectarium on a project called 'Lockdown Space' - an image archive capturing domestic spatial innovations during the Pandemic. This was presented at the 'Urban Assemblage' conference, University of Hertfordshire in 2021, where I also presented a paper on "Revisiting the Virtual House". The Lockdown Space project has continued and was recently on show at the 'Now Play This' exhibition at Somerset house in London (6-14th April 2024)
