            Biography
Suraksha Gupta is a Professor of Marketing at Fashion Business School, London College of Fashion, University of the Arts, London. Prior to joining Fashion Business School, she spent 7+ years at Newcastle University, where she held various research leadership positions and was honoured with the award of Established Researcher for her outstanding research profile. She was also recognised and rewarded by CMO Asia as Best Professor in Marketing and by Emerald Literati Network for Excellence in her research. Her contributions have also been rewarded by industry i.e. intel and Samsung for her work in India through her employers. Today, she is also a visiting Professor at Pacific State University USA.Suraksha earned her Doctoral Degree from Brunel University in UK and MBA from Institute of Management Technology in India. Post her PhD, she also studied for a PGDip in Big Data for Business Intelligence from Cambridge University and PGCert from Middlesex University, UK.
Prior to entering academia, Suraksha has held various positions in the industry. During her industry period she worked with brands like intel and Samsung for their IT and Telecom products and publishing houses such as The Times of India and Tata Energy Research Institute. She has also served many industrial brands in consulting roles as Director of Systems Research Pvt Ltd, a top market research and marketing company in India. Her engagement and investments in Roasty Foods Pvt Ltd India helped the company regain its position in the market as a leading supplier of health foods from India for clients within and outside of India.
As an academic, Suraksha is known for her achievements and leadership in the field of marketing. She has published 80+ research papers, one text book which was published by highly reputed publisher, Cambridge University Press and five edited books and 17 book chapters. She has been supervising PhD students in the field of marketing, strategy and corporate policy and many of her former PhD students are working as research active scholars in various academic posts in universities within and outside of UK.
Suraksha’s research is recognized globally, and as a thought leader, she immensely contributes to the fields of strategic marketing with a special focus on operations of international firms in emerging markets and their vulnerable communities with a belief that Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are central for growth and peace. Suraksha’s work has always been contemporary and addressed critical issues of the time. For example, special issue of Journal of World Business was the first special issue on Sustainability that called for attention of academic fraternity on this topic in the year 2009 and that of British Journal of Management on Reshoring during the year 2021, which invited scholars to pay attention to this topic due to the revolution of international trade with India-China war and/or COVID-19. Special issues guest edited by Suraksha always addressed very critical issues and have been very influential in directing academic research related to societal challenges.
Other than her institutional roles, she has been leading research community in various roles such as a guest editor and founder of MSP Research. She has also been serving British Journal of Management and Industrial Marketing Management in supporting editorial roles.
She has guest edited numerous special issues of various high quality and reputed journals such as Journal of World Business, British Journal of Management, Industrial Marketing Management and Journal of Business Research etc. Suraksha has been a very productive scholar and has published over 80+ articles in leading academic journals, written various book chapters, edited books and produced a textbook that was published by a highly reputed publisher i.e. Cambridge University Press. Her Google Scholar citations score of 6356, with an h-index of 36 and i10-index of 67, puts her well ahead of most of her peers working on similar but diverse fields across the globe. She has also won numerous awards and resources in terms of research papers and research grants for her leadership and service to the internal and external stakeholder community for achieving goals in given timescales with determination and perseverance.
MSP Research platform created by her is moving strongly in the direction of pushing the agenda of university and academic linkages that will have great potential for academics who are trying to reach out to industry with their research findings so that they can make and also demonstrate an impact.
