Biography
Yikai Bai is a practice-based PhD researcher at the University of the Arts London. His research explores sound art, new materialism, and coastal communities, adopting interdisciplinary approaches to investigate the entangled relationships between humans and non-humans, and between nature and technology.Working across painting, digital video, sound, and installation, Bai interweaves personal memory, local experience, and theoretical research into narrative and experimental artistic practices. His works often depart from coastlines, ecological transformations, and community memory, employing sound and moving image as mediating agents to explore trauma, locality, and the reciprocal shaping of humans and their environments.
