Biography
Yue Qin is a full-time PhD student at London College of Communication, University of the Arts London. She is also the Postgraduate Student Representative. Her research project is "Chinese Feminism on Short-Form Video Platforms: Perspectives from Users' Self-Presentation and Discourse".This research project focuses on women's participation and practices on the Chinese social media Douyin. By conducting an analysis of feminism and other related topics, the research aims to shed light on how female content creators actively shape contemporary Chinese feminism through their self-presentation, discourse, and various strategic approaches. Additionally, this study endeavours to unveil the mechanisms governing visibility and portrayal of women's discursive practices within the realm of social media empowerment, thereby complementing women's gender identities with more dimensions in Chinese and global digital sphere.
Yue has a diverse academic educational background, and she is also engaged in exploring human behaviour and social phenomena from the media aspect from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Yue also works as a lecturer and counsellor, mainly responsible for teaching courses in communication studies as well as practical design courses such as video production and post-production video effects, etc.
