Biography

Zijing Zhao (b. 1997, China) is a dynamic artist and researcher, currently residing in London. She obtained her MA from the Royal College of Art in 2020 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of the Arts London. Grounded in an academic background steeped in feminism, horror studies, mythology, and game studies, Zijing's research and practice transcends traditional boundaries. Her multi-disciplinary approach incorporates video, simulation, performance, and games, weaving a web through which she crafts narratives that challenge and subvert entrenched gender norms within the tapestry of horror storytelling. Her research spans various archival forms, from historic texts to academic archives, archaeology, and ecological theory, reflecting a commitment to exploring the complexities of the contemporary subject.

Her works have been exhibited worldwide, including Dyson Gallery, Royal College of Art, London; Tank Shanghai, Shanghai; Assembly Point Gallery, London; Skelf, London; Goldsmiths CCA, London; Athens Digital Arts Festival, Athens, and more.
