This autumn, the music of 2001: A Space Odyssey is under the spotlight with a series of events being held at the Royal Festival Hall. Here at the Archive, we’ll be involved with helping to develop a workshop taking place at RFH on 1st October which will explore the way Kubrick used music in the film and look at the strong impact his use of music had on succeeding generations of film scores and film scorers. Later on that evening one of our own archivists will be discussing Kubrick and music with Tom Service on BBC Radio 3’s Hear and Now. Finally, on 2nd October, there will be a screening of the film with live musical accompaniment by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philharmonic Voices.
All events are taking place at the Royal Festival Hall on 1st and 2nd October 2016. For further details, please visit http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/whatson
