Post-Grad Community Welcome Mixer, at Central Saint Martins' Platform Bat

Central Saint Martins' Platform Bar played host to the Post-Grad Community Welcome Mixer, bringing together postgrad students from across University of the Arts London's six colleges.

Warm welcomes were received upon arrival, with short introductions from Fred Kavanagh (Post-Grad Community and Events Coordinator), Allan Atlee (CSM’s Dean of Academic Strategy), and Nanthini Sampathkumar (co-founder of Carboned OUT and recent graduate from LCC’s MA Global Collaborative Design practice).

Interactive activities like Carboned OUT provided by Nathini and other co-founder, Ozge Sahin, added an engaging flair.

Carboned OUT is a board and card game that aims to educate people about the carbon emissions of their daily activities, to bring them one step closer to becoming carbon literate.

“We thoroughly enjoyed our time playing Carboned OUT with the Post-Grad Community. It was great to see the students get involved in the game and become interested in climate-related topics. Not only did the game serve as an icebreaker for newcomers, but it also facilitated intriguing conversations around climate issues. As the students are going to play a vital role in their future industries, it's essential that they become climate-conscious and well-informed and we hope through Carboned OUT we sparked a few climate conscious decisions by helping in bridging their climate knowledge while nurturing curiosity.”

As the mixer went on, connections were made across disciplines and colleges – just the tonic for the start of their postgraduate journey here at UAL.
